Chappie, the protagonist of the film, is a police robot with artificial intelligence created by engineer Deon Wilson. Unlike other police robots, Chappie can think, feel emotions, and develop a unique personality. After being reprogrammed and kidnapped by a gang, he embarks on a journey of self-discovery, learning about life and facing moral dilemmas in a violent, corrupt world.
