The M113 is a fully tracked armored personnel carrier (APC) developed by FMC to replace the M59 APC. First used in combat by the South Vietnamese Army in 1962, it became the U.S. Army's most widely used armored vehicle in the Vietnam War, known for breaking through jungle thickets and assaulting enemy positions. Allies referred to it as the "APC" or "ACAV" (armored cavalry assault vehicle).
